The 3rd International Conference on Food Science and Engineering (ICFSE 2020) is a biennial conference held by The Department of Food Science and Technology, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) since 2016. The first plan, it supposed held in Best Western Premier Hotel Solo Baru on September 29-30th 2020. Because of global pandemic Covid-19, so the organizer decided to use Zoom Meeting on the same date. The chairman’s mandate of the 3rd ICFSE 2020 is given to Dr. Muhammad Zukhrufuz Zaman. This year, the conference will bring the theme “Strengthening Collaborative Frameworks for Innovations in Food Science and Engineering: Contributions to Sustainable Development Goals”. There are 123 abstracts have been accepted to be presented in this meeting from 6 countries with 8 keynote/invited plenary presentation. 

On plenary session, there are 8 keynote/invited speakers from 6 countries with worldwide track record. It’s a honored to have Prof. Dr. Ir. Umar Santoso, M.Sc. from Indonesian Society for Food Technologyst as a Keynote Speaker and the topic is” Enhancing collaborative frameworks among university, industry, and government for innovations in food science and technology: a perspective from the Indonesian association for food technologists (IAFT/PATPI)”. After that, the invited speaker to share their topic of interest, that is: Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunus (Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Ir. Mieke Uyttendaele (Department of Food Technology, Safety and Health, Ghent University, Belgium), Prof. Dr. Son Radu (Department of Food Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia), Dr. Sangeeta Prakash (School of Agriculture and Food Science, University of Queensland, Australia), Prof. Dr. Takahisa Nishizu (Department of Applied Life Sciences, Gifu University, Japan), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jirawat Yongsawatdigul (School of Food Technology, Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand), and Prof. Dr. Hitoshi Shirakawa (Tohoku University, Japan). 

On parallel session, the presenters have to do sharing and dissemination with oral presentation about their research. The presented articles going though peer review process and published at IOP conference series: Materials Science and Engineering (terindeks Scopus), Food Research (Jurnal Internasional terindeks Scopus) and Caraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture (DOAJ and Shinta 2 indexed). The 3rd International Conference on Food Science and Engineering (ICFSE) 2018 is designed to facilitate the needs of academicians, researchers, policy makers, governmental and private agencies in disclosing and sharing their knowledge and experiences to fulfill a point of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end hunger and prevent all forms of malnutrition by 2030. The chairman, Dr. Muhammad Zukhrufuz Zaman told that this conference used to fill the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) with colleague institution. The invited speakers are come from colleague institution, especially Faculty of Agriculture’s and Department of Food Sciences and Technology’s colleague. UNS is now on its way in pursuing the status of world class university. So, the conference is to strengthening the university international networking by hosting international conferences is thought to be an effective strategy to meet the aim.The 3rd ICFSE is opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S. (Vice Rector Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Universitas Sebelas Maret). Prof. Yunus said that the challenge to reduce hunger in Indonesia is still hard, so, it’s a necessary to take anticipation and appropriate strategy to answer it. Besides that, The Dean of Faculty of UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samanhudi, S.P., M.Si., IPM, ASEAN Eng., on his speech emphasize to collaborates all the stakeholders to achieved the 2nd SDGs goal, namely hero hunger.
