The Food Science and Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) is one of the study programmes that has been established for a long time and has a rich history. The was founded on 16 July 2004 as one of the study programmes under the Faculty of Agriculture. Initially, this study program was named The Agricultural Product Technology Study Programme. This program aimed at meeting the need for experts in the field of agricultural product technology in Indonesia.

The establishment of the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program at UNS was a response to the rapid developments in the agricultural sector in Indonesia at that time, especially regarding the problem of agricultural product processing. The main objective is to produce graduates who are skilled and competent in applying modern agricultural product processing technologies.

Along with the development and progress of science and the demands of the times, the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program at UNS continues to experience changes and improvements. On 1 January 2008, this study program changed its name to the Food Science and Technology Study Program with a specialization in food processing technology based on the Decree of the Indonesian Ministry of Education.

Over the years, the Food Science and Technology Study Program, UNS has produced quite a number of graduates who are successful and play an active role in the development of the agricultural product processing sector in Indonesia. This study programme has produced agricultural technology experts who are able to make a concrete contribution to the development of agricultural product processing and the application of appropriate technology in various agricultural product processing sectors.

The Food Science and Technology Study Program at UNS is also active in scientific research and development in the field of food technology. This program has laboratories equipped with sophisticated equipment and adequate facilities to conduct research and testing in various aspects of food technology.

In facing future challenges, the Food Science and Technology Study Program continues to strive to expand the range of its studies and develop programmes that are relevant to the needs of the food processing industry. With a long history and a strong commitment to the development of the agricultural product processing sector, the Food Science and Technology Study Program at Sebelas Maret University continues to play a role as an educational institution that contributes to producing food technology experts who are reliable and highly competitive.
